Los Cuatros Rumbos
The intention is to clean the mind, the body and be in balance within.
During our stay in a small pueblo in the State of Mexico, we found ourselves in a sacred oasis of love and healing.
The Center of Light And Life asked us to share our art with them. Excited at the opportunity, we found our inspiration for this next piece by fully immersing ourselves in the Temazcal tradition.
A temazcal is a ceremonial sweat lodge built to reflect the womb of our Mother Earth. It combines the use of the 4 elements, creating a physical and emotional detoxification experience.
With the love and support from this community, we were able to really grasp the hard work it takes to be “reborn” every time you take part in one of these sacred ceremonies.
The animals on our piece represent the 4 cardinal directions of the Toltec culture. The feathered serpent soaring across the cosmos represents the energy of life. In the center, the eye of Ollin represents all of these aspects living in harmony within the community that the center holds.
We left a piece of our hearts in this piece, and what we learned in this sacred place will forever live on within us.
