our mission.

We create custom designed murals and art installations that accurately tell your story through bold, imaginative art pieces. We don’t start designing until we’ve discovered the heart of what makes your story uniquely you. What we love about murals is that it is a form of art that is accessible to the public and feels like an inclusive and shared experience. Whether you’re a company looking for a new way to tell your brand’s story, or a high school class that needs an avenue for self-expression - this is is about bringing your vision to life in a piece that evokes the imagination to walk a mile in your shoes.

Aqmni

aquarius + gemini = aqmni

pronounced: uh-kwe-min-eye

See that picture of us over there? That’s around the time we quit our “creative” corporate jobs, sold everything we had and packed the bare necessities into a backpack set to travel the world. We had no idea what we were doing. All we knew is that we needed a change after the daily 9-5 chewed us up and left us feeling uninspired. As artists who love color, let’s just say it left us feeling quite gray.

Our first stop was the Big Island of Hawaii where we stayed on a small organic farm for a few months with the intention of finding some grounding by getting our hands dirty and keeping our eyes away from a screen. It was revitalizing. But we still were unsure of what we were going to do with our creative careers as different ideas were thrown back and forth between us.

Then one day towards the end of our stay on that farm, our host asked us nonchalantly, ”Hey you guys do creative stuff, right?”

“Sure,” we replied wondering what was coming next.

“Well we’ve always wanted a mural in the barn and we were wondering if you two’d be up for it.”

Needless to say, we gladly accepted. Though we never had painted murals before, it’s something we’ve always wanted to do but had no idea how to even begin to try. Well, here was an opportunity that fell right into our laps. It was a challenge that re-ignited our creative drives and after that first mural we were HOOKED.

And thus AQMNI was born.

Carlo has a background that comes from graphic design and animation. He’s worked for big names such as Disney, Marvel, and Universal to name a few. After years in the corporate field, he decided to switch his focus to the nonprofit sector and his visual art skills also allowed him to travel and contribute in places like India and Peru. He wants to take all of this experience and use it to empower underserved communities and BIPOC youth so they can see that they too can pave their own paths through the arts. Moving forward, he’s hoping to start some sort of mentorship initiative in which youth that have an interest in pursuing a creative career path can learn from and get hands-on experience.

  • The Gemini

A daughter of immigrant parents, Ethel spent a majority of her youth in an underserved community. She was fortunate enough to be placed into a program that gave youth a platform to express themselves creatively through arts and crafts, theater, photo and film and even being in nature. This influenced her interest in art. She studied fine art in high school and received her BA in multimedia arts from LMU. Her creative career path took the form of digital photography and video editing for social media content creation for e-commerce businesses. She worked at FOREVER21 headquarters and for a grassroots social media marketing agency that had well-known clients like Mrs. Field’s and MeUndies. After being diagnosed with Narcolepsy, she found an outlet for expressing her emotions through conceptual portraiture. During the pandemic she decided to bring the opportunity of expression and healing through the arts to underserved youth and communities.

Let’s stay in touch.
